Global Zero is an interactional initiative which was launched to promote a consensus on the elimination of nuclear weapons and which proposes a phased withdrawal and verification for the destruction of all devices held by official and unofficial members of the nuclear club. As part of the campaign Global Zero held a summit in London in June 2011 which was attended by over 100 eminent international leaders and experts and which announced an international grassroots campaign.
What: The opening of the summit was marled with a screening at BAFTA of the Lawrence Bender produced nuclear documentary, Countdown to Zero.
The two day summit was held in the Lancaster Ballroom at the Savoy (with a custom buffet set designed for the occasion) and was interpreted from English into 5 languages (Chinese, Japanese, French, Russian and Spanish).
The summit was concluded with a spectacular VIP dinner at the Royal Courts of Justice.
